Maysoun Ismaiel is a PhD student working in the hygrothermal performance and challenges of exterior masonry walls. She is a new member in Dr. Yuxiang Chen’s research group.
She joined the U of A in September 2018. Maysoun studied her BSc (2012) and MSc (2015) in structural engineering at Cairo University in Egypt. She has worked as a Lecturer Assistant at the German University in Cairo (2014 – 2018) and as a part-time Structural Engineer at Arab Consulting Engineers (ACE) in Egypt (2013-2014).
Maysoun’s research interest is the hygrothermal behaviour of buildings and the improvement of energy efficiency and thermal comfort. In recent decades, there has been a growing awareness regarding energy consumption in buildings and comfortable interior conditions; therefore, hygrothermal simulation should be used to design envelope parts with high performance.
